My default web browser is Google Chrome and while using Grooveshark on it, I came across 3 wonderful Chrome extensions that enhanced my overall experience on Grooveshark. For the benefit of all my Chrome using readers (who are also Grooveshark fans), I am going to share these wonderful extension. Read about and install each one; they all serve an important purpose.

1. Ads-Free Grooveshark

grooveshark1

Grooveshark offers paid and free plans to its users. Free accountholders are shown ads in their Grooveshark interface – something which is quite distracting and bothersome to some users. This Chrome extension does exactly what its name suggests: it removes those ads. What I liked most about Ads-free Grooveshark that there were no options to set up; the ads simply disappeared once I started installed the extension.

Click here to get Ads-free Grooveshark.

2. ChromeShark

grooveshark2

ChromeShark is another Chrome extension that neatly complements the Grooveshark experience in Chrome. It places an icon in our address bar which, when clicked, shows us very basic audio player controls. These controls include previous song, play/pause, next song, and stop.

3. keySharky

grooveshark3

While we have the Grooveshark’s player open, we can use keyboard shortcuts which let us control the player like any other audio player. These hotkey shortcuts are introduced by keySharky. The extension lets us change the default hotkey combinations in its options.

Using all these 3 extensions on your Chrome will surely enhance your Grooveshark experience.

Musical Deja Vu All Over Again

Tags / , , , , , , , , , , , — Yanko Design @ 1:56 am

Way back in history, humans used to stretch magnetized strips of a petroleum derivative and electronically infuse them with audio recordings. The original audio recording playback machine was at least the length of a football field. Until someone noticed that you could spool the “tapes” of recordings into easily potable “compact cassettes.” And it was good. In the 90s, after two failed attempts, audio recordings were being stored in Magical Playbacker 3 boxes or “MP3 Players”. And it was better. But if you are the type that loves to wear day-glo colors and drink wine coolers, then you just might love this latest hybrid format that is sure to take you Back to the Future. From London’s dadahack, comes the latest in retro chic audio playback devices. The “TAP3″ is essentially an digital audio player in the form factor of the classic compact cassette. Yes yes, we know, you’ve seen this before. Ah, but wait! There is more. This handy little device also allows playback in your father’s old cassette player, boom box or any other tape player you find at garage sales. With audio stored on a 2GB SD card and transferring done via mini USB, these limited edition players are sure to make you feel like a virgin all over again.

Cut MP3: An Introduction To Full Fledged Online MP3 Cutter

Before I started using torrents, I used to download songs from websites like MP3Raid. When I downloaded these songs, I transferred them onto my cellphone for later listening. However some of the songs were quite long and I wanted to cut them short. For this I used an MP3 editor to cut out a portion of the song. Even now when I have to extract a portion of the song for later listening or to set it as my ringtone, I use the MP3 editor which I have installed on my computer.

CutMP3 is a website that eliminated my need to have an audio editor installed on my computer for cutting out portions of songs.

cutmp3

CutMP3 is a website with a remarkable user friendly interface. The function of the site is quite simple: to enable its visitors to upload audio files and cut portions out of it. CutMP3 provides this service to its visitors free of any charge.

In order to use CutMP3, we must first upload a file using the “Open MP3” button

cutmp31

The file we upload is then presented in an audio player on the site.

cutmp32

We click on the “Play” button to start our recording and on the “Stop” button to end it. The sliders located at the bottom can also alter the length of our audio.

cutmp33

Finally we achieve our extracted audio and can save it onto our hard drive by clicking on the “cut” button.

cutmp34

CutMP3 is a simple to use website that will be a great help to anybody looking to cut off a portion from an MP3 audio file. Give the site a try and drop a comment to let us know what you think.

Tags / , , , , , , , , — Yanko Design @ 4:00 am

What do we have for our audiophiles today? A glorious, sleek and majestic player called the Sonic Emotional Pulse Of Music designers by Chen Guoheng. Going by the norm of transparent covers showcasing the disk spinning fast, this one goes a step ahead and partially exposes the spinning disk. Fiber optic cables are used to hook this baby up, with shimmy blue LEDs emitting a soft glow right below the speakers. The highlight of course is the equalizer waves that move in sync with the beat of the music.
