Siggi Eggertsson recently updated his website and grid-oriented portfolio. His vector-heavy work explores color and tone in a very interesting way. His work would sit beautifully next to some Tom Wesselmann nudes.

TASTE04

Artist Ivan Hvam Hvam is an art/creative director, who has experimented in everything from graphic design and illustration to performance and installation art. He frequently works on branding, creating advertisements and designing packaging for companies such as Rusk eyewear and CrossEyes. Together with Thomas C K Priskorn, Hvam Hvam created I’m Ivan, featuring Ivan himself. In fact, Hvam Hvam is often the model for works in which he collaborates with Priskorn; he is as much a performer as he is a creator.

Pantone™ Hotel

Tags / , , , — FormFiftyFive @ 8:52 am

I was just having a five minute tea break—of which I probably have too many—and happened across this site for the Pantone™ Hotel in Brussels. Not sure quite what I make of it, but I do find it incredibly intriguing. Are Pantone™ actually on a mission to take over the world? Will they beat Richard Branson, Rupert Murdoch, Steve Jobs et al to the punch? Seems like they might be on course:

“The PANTONE HOTELTM is part of the new PANTONE UNIVERSE, an expanding line of colorful, design-driven products to touch and tempt consumers.”

If anyone’s going to Brussels any time soon, why not book into Pantone™ and let us all know what you think?

The next instalment of LongLunch’s series of FREE talks by Scottish design agencies is now upon us. Thursday night at Glasgow School of Art will see Glasgow agency Marque take the floor in what should be another thoroughly informative and entertaining session. I should add that the sessions in the pub after are always good as well.

This event is fully booked at the moment, but if you have reserved a place and can’t make it, please get in touch with LongLunch ASAP to let them know.

Saturdays Surf NYC

Tags / , , , — +KN | Kitsune Noir @ 1:21 pm

Yesterday afternoon before leaving New York I had the opportunity to meet up with my buddy who works over at Warp for some coffee at a little shop called Saturdays Surf NYC. The appeal of Saturdays is that they’re the only surf shop in SoHo plus they have amazing coffee AND they have one of the best patios I’ve ever sat on, as evidenced by the photos above.

The light in New York is hard to describe, but it’s similar to the light of Los Angeles in some respects. I think in New York it’s more how the light is being filtered and reflected off buildings, how you’er surrounded by brick and steel but it still feels bright out. Now imagine sitting in a tiny garden with a perfect iced Americano in your hand… that’s what Saturdays is like.

They also happen to carry some great products like handmade canvas totes, Baxter, Best Made axes, surfboards, fins, clothing… pretty much everything. I also loved that it’s on a small side street off of the hustle of Broadway, even though when I was around they were shooting a film. Nonetheless it’s a beautiful space and a place worthy of your time.

A simple hand-printed canvas bag is a great reusable packaging option to organize and store items that are part of a collection, like these stamps.
