This is induction cooking at its finest. Designed to be functional and as a wonderful table top to serve from, the CookIn Table encourages family time by engaging everyone to join in ala hot pot style. The cooktop only heats up when a metallic surface touches it. Beneath the glass top are retractable shelves for additional service stations and beneath that is storage for utensils. Beautiful and accompanied by an extremely detailed exploded view. We like that.

Designers keep sending me induction cooking table concepts so I figure I better feature one of them. This one uses the tech to bring family into the cooking experience – to create a new kind of domestic ritual. They say a family that cooks and eats together stays together. I love the idea of cooking together but there’s something to be said about cooking in a proper kitchen. Many families bond in there too.

The brief was to optimize the application of BASF’s plastic material ULTRADUR and the result was an Induction Iron. Utilizing ULTRADUR’s heat resistant heat resistant properties to his advantage, Therese came up with a bare minimal design that has been “stripped down to the essentials.” This cordless induction heating iron works through an electromagnetic field that transforms the energy directly and heats only the ironing plate. You may recollect the ironing board that is being used here, it’s that same flip-mirror one we showcased earlier.
