Lisa Hostetler has compiled ‘Street Seen: The Psychological Gesture in American Photography, 1940 – 1959′, a remarkable profile of American photography and the American psyche itself in the late War and post-war period. One of the most important eras in America history, America’s military industrial complex brought its full weight to bear, turning the United States into the world’s most powerful, most influential country by 1945.
Though the post-war-Boom marked an era of unprecedented luxury and prosperity, there was a second face to the era, as marked by the remarkable shift in photography of the era, as documented by Hostetler. Compiling works by period photographers such as Robert Frank, Saul Leiter and William Klein, Hostetler gives us an effective look into America as it was in the mid-20th Century.
The companion book to a recently closed exhibition of the same name at the Milwaukee Art Museum also curated by Lisa Hostetler, Street Seen is published by DelMonico books and available now.

Artyfarty Gallery opened the doors to their latest show called ‘The Road Less Traveled’ by San Francisco’s own street artist Jeremy Fish last Saturday. It was a night with cool people, who had the rare chance to buy very limited art pieces by Jeremy Fish. The artworks are mainly about storytelling and communication, told through a library of characters and symbols. If you are in the area around Cologne, Germany, make sure to stop by to get a closer look at the illustrations and wooden art pieces. You might not see this stuff very often.

CLOT and Levi’s have teamed to create a pair of rigid denim jeans, which we’re able to get a little preview of. We’re pretty big fans of Levi’s, but our problem is that the soft wash used on their 514s and other jeans tend to wear out too fast. Good thing CLOT has decided to go with a super rigid route, putting together a very rough, very hard-working pair of jeans.

If you ever had any question about adidas’s credibility, check out the full length version of adidas Originals‘ ‘The Street Where Originality Lives’ video. A romp through what is undisputably the coolest neighbourhood of all time, we check out Aggy Deyn relaxing in her adidas Originals football jersey, Noel Gallagher playing an acoustic set in the street, David Beckham playing a game of pickup, and a warhouse set by the N-Dubz, followed by a rooftop afterparty with Mr. Hudson, Ciara, and Snoop. After having wrote that, we think we’ve decided our neighbourhood is going to suck by comparison until at least one member of Oasis moves in. At least.
